Digital India Awards

The Government of India has adopted a Digital India vision to transform India into a digitally empowered society & knowledge economy. To realise this vision, it is imperative that the focus be sharpened on the use of innovative digital initiatives to not only enable governance & services on demand, but also to empower citizens. 
 
Indian government entities at all levels - Centre, State & local bodies - continue undertaking various initiatives to fulfil the Digital India vision. Due recognition should be accorded to such digital initiatives along with the teams that help build & implement them. 
 
Digital India Awards (DIA) presents an opportunity to bring to the fore such digital initiatives. These awards are instituted under the aegis of National Portal of India to encourage and honour innovative digital solutions by government entities at all levels. DIA 2022 aims to inspire and motivate not only government entities but also startups in fulfilling the Digital India vision.

Kaushalacharya Award

Established in : 2019

Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship

Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) instituted the Kaushalacharya Award in 2019 (This Award carries a Certificate) as an annual affair, to felicitate trainers from different sectors for exceptional contribution towards creating a future-ready and skilled work-force in a bid to motivate and incentivize more trainers to join the Skill India Mission   and  also to recognize the contribution made by skill trainers in the vocational training ecosystem and entrepreneurial initiatives to motivate young entrepreneurs  for taking up self employment as means of livelihood.   The 4th edition of the Award will be held in 2022. The Award ceremony have normally be presided over by the Hon’ble Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship(SDE) and Minister of State, SDE.

It is estimated India will need about 2.5 lakh trainers across the skilling ecosystem.  Under MSDE aegis, the National Skill Development Corporation(NSDC) and Directorate General of Training(DGT) are working together to create better quality trainers and assessors.  

Under the Kaushalacharya Award there are five categories as  under:

1. Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana(PMKVY)

2. Jan Shikshan Sansthan(JSS)

3. Apprenticeship

4. Entrepreneurship

5. DGT

National Award for Excellence in Forestry

Established in : 2021

Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change

a) To promote and motivate the professional competence in the scientific community, including forestry professionals, technical persons and research scholars in the field of forestry.

b) To encorage individuals, farmers, Village Forest Committees, Self-Help Groups, institutions, organizations, NGOs and forest based industries who have contributed in the field of forestry.

c) To recognise practical and applied forestry research-oriented performance which has led to public welfare.

d) To fecilitate person(s) who has made significant contribution towards the cause of forestry.

National Award for Senior Citizens- Vayoshreshtha Samman

Established in : 2013

Department of Social Justice and Empowerment

Vayoshreshtha Samman are conferred on eminent senior citizens and Institutions involved in rendering distinguished services for the cause of elderly persons, especially indigent senior citizens. The Awards are given across 13 categories – 07 categories of Institutional type and 06 categories of individual type.

 

National Awards for Outstanding Services in the Field of Prevention of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse

Established in : 2015

Department of Social Justice and Empowerment

The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment is the nodal Ministry for drug demand reduction. It coordinates and monitors all aspects of drug abuse prevention which include assessment of the extent of the problem, preventive action, treatment and rehabilitation of addicts, dissemination of information and public education. The Ministry provides community-based services for the identification, treatment and rehabilitation of addicts through voluntary organizations. In order to recognize the efforts, and encourage excellence in the Prevention of Alcoholism and Substance (Drugs) Abuse and rehabilitation of its victims, awards will be presented, once in two years starting from the year 2016, for the most effective or outstanding services as individuals as well as institutions in the prevention of abuse of :-

(a) Alcohol;

(b) Narcotic Drugs;

(c) Psychotropic Substances;

(d) Other Addictive Substances (Except tobacco and its products) e.g. cough syrups, correction fluid, etc.

National Awards for Science and Technology Communication

National Biotechnology Innovation Awards

Established in : 2022

Department of Bio-Technology

1. Product Process Development and Commercialization: Recognition of outstanding contributions of: scientists/innovators/entrepreneurs/researchers/Indian institutions & companies (public as well as private) for development of new product or process and commercialization of the technology in the areas of Biotechnology.

2. Societal Development: Recognition of outstanding contribution of an individual or a social organization, working at grass-root level for societal development through application of biotechnological interventions in agriculture and allied areas, health care and hygiene for empowering people for lively hood generation, skill development and entrepreneurship for self-employment.

National Grassroots Innovation and Outstanding Traditional Knowledge Awards

Established in : 2000

Department of Science and Technology

National Innovation Foundation (NIF)-India, an autonomous body of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, invites entries of unaided technological innovations and traditional knowledge developed at grassroots by an individual (Citizen of India) or group. The innovations can be in the field of agriculture, health, energy, household or utility, transportation, livestock etc. leading to the reduction in drudgery, livelihood generation, development of plant varieties or herbal remedies for human/ animal/ farming problems, or any other low cost sustainable green technologies. These should be unaided/ unsupervised and an outcome of one's own creativity, without any technical support from external agencies. Creative ideas for innovative technologies/ techniques solving persistence problems of society, which may not have been developed into prototypes, may also be submitted.
 
For the 14th National Biennial Competition for Green Grassroots Unaided Technological Innovations, Ideas & Outstanding Traditional Knowledge, the entries can be submitted during April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2025, which is the last date for submission.
 
Under the National Grassroots Innovation and Outstanding Traditional Knowledge Awards, there are six levels of awards as under:

2. National First Award
 
3. National Second Award
 
4. National Third Award
 
5. State Award
 
6. Consolation Award
 
*Conferred to an outstanding innovator with demonstrated lifelong creativity.

National Technical Teacher's Award

Established in : 2019

The scheme is introduced for identifying the extraordinary teachers and recognize the excellence / best practices / innovativeness of such teachers in field of technical education at national level for Degree, Diploma institutions, Pharmacy and Management Institutions.
 
This scheme is aimed to recognize the meritorious faculties on Teacher’s Day i.e., 5 September every year at National level and encourage themto update themselves to the ever-changing needs of higher education at global level and thereby becoming an effective contributor towards the society.
 
National Technical Teacher’s Award is divided in following categories:
 
1.Award for Engineering/ Technical faculty members
 
2.Award for Management faculty members
 

National Technology Awards

Established in : 1999

Department of Science and Technology

It was on 11th May 1998, that India had a prideful accomplishment of successfully conducting Nuclear Missile Test at Indian Army’s Pokhran range. On this day first indigenous aircraft Hansa-3 was test flown at Bangalore and India also conducted successful test firing of the Trishul missile on the same day. Considering all these achievements 11th, May was chosen to be commemorated as National Technology Day.

To commemorate this day and to forge a powerful partnership with national laboratories and to create knowledge networks with academic institutions, Technology Development Board, under the Aegis of DST instituted a National Technology Award for successful commercialization of indigenous technology by industrial concerns in 1999. Within the same national technology award the second category was introduced in 2000 for SSI units. Later this has been renamed as MSME award. From 2017 onwards, under that same category national technology award for start-up has been introduced to encourage & promote technologies developed by start-ups having potential for commercialization. From 2021 onwards a new category of National Award for Translational Research in science and technology has been introduced. Also, in order to recognize and reward the remarkable work done by startup Incubator, DST has instituted National Award for Technology Business Incubator in 2004.

1. National Technology Award (Main) - for the successful commercialization of indigenous technology. This award will be given to an industrial concern which has successfully developed & commercialized an indigenous technology on or after   April 2017. In case, the technology developer / provider and technology commercializer are two different organizations, each one would be eligible for award of ₹25 Lakh and a trophy.

i. Cash Award of ₹25 Lakh

ii. Number of awards: One

2. National Technology Awards (MSME) – This award will be given to MSMEs which have successfully commercialized a product based on indigenous technology on or after April 2017.

i. Cash Awards of ₹15 Lakh

ii. Number of awards: Three (including one reserved for Women led MSME)

3. National Technology Awards (Start-up) – This award will be given to a technology start-up for promising new technology with potential for commercialization.

i. Cash Awards of ₹15 Lakh

ii. Number of awards: Five (including one reserved for Women-led Start-up)

4. National Technology Awards (Translational Research) – This award is given for outstanding contribution of Scientists in commercializing innovative indigenous technologies. Award amount of Rs 5 Lakh and a trophy.

i. Cash Awards of ₹5 Lakh

ii. Number of awards: Two (one is to be reserved for Translational Research by Women Scientist)

5. National Technology Awards (Technology Business Incubators) - To recognize and reward outstanding contribution in techno-entrepreneurship development by way of promoting innovative technology driven knowledge intensive startup enterprises in different technological areas.

  1. Cash Awards of ₹5 Lakh
  2. Number of awards: One

The awards will be presented on National Technology Day on 11th May, 2023.

 
 

 

Police Service Medal

Established in : 1951

This Medal is given to recognize valuable services characterized by resource and devotion to duty including prolonged service or ability and merit in Police Service or in the Central Police/ Security. It comes at SI. No. 47 and 53 on order of Precedence as per President's Secretariat Notification No. 106-Pres/2004 dated 19/7/2004.
