Bharat Steel Awards 2026

"Bharat Steel Awards" aims to honor organizations and individuals for exemplary performance and significant contributions in various critical areas of the steel sector.

Eligibility

(For i to vi above ) Any Indian Steel Company/team whether PSU/Private as follows

i) Large Scale Producers > 1Mtpa 

ii) Secondary Steel Producers <1 Mtpa 

iii) For Exceptional Contribution Award

Any Citizen of India who is having Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering/ Materials Science or Equivalent has made an exceptional and transformative contribution to the Indian Steel Sector. This could be through pioneering research, groundbreaking technological development, significant policy advocacy, leadership in industry transformation, or a lifetime of dedicated service that has demonstrably elevated the steel industry in India in past 10 years. Minimum Age: 25 yrs, Maximum age : 60 yrs

Decoration

Each award would be in the form of a Certificate, Trophy and a Cash prize. It is to be noted that cash prize shall be given to Small Scale Industry (SSI) and under Individual category only, not to ISPs.

Who can nominate ?

                

Selection Process

a. The selection Committee for the awards is constituted with the approval of the Chairman, Award making Authority & Secretary Ministry of Steel, Govt. of India. The Award Making Authority (AMA) shall comprise the following members :

1 Secretary Ministry of Steel : Chairman

2 Joint Secretary, Ministry of Steel : Member

3 Two Experts from Steel industry (to be nominated by Secretary , MoS) : Member

4 Research Organizations (to be nominated by Secretary , MoS) : Member No member of the Authority shall participate in the deliberations of the AMA if he/she is a candidate of an award

 

b. There shall be a Screening Committee of Experts (SCE) constituted by the Chairman of the Award Making Authority.

c. The Screening Committee shall scrutinise the applications & supporting documents and accept or reject applications based on the eligibility conditions and submit consolidated report of applications Award Making Authority (AMA).

d. While considering for Exceptional Contribution Award for an exceptional and transformative contribution to the Indian Steel Sector, the Award Making authority, if deemed necessary, may consider the name of any renowned Engineer/Technologist/academician with high credentials.

e. The composition of various selection committees, proceedings of the meetings and the procedure for consideration of the nominations, other than as detailed herein will be kept confidential.

f. The decision of the Award Making Authority shall be final and binding on all. Canvassing in any form during the selection procedure would lead to permanent disqualification of the nominees/organization
