Gallantry Medal - PMG/GM

In consideration of Gallant Act and Exceptional Courage.

Eligibility

1. President’s Medal for Gallantry - The medal shall be awarded to only those who has done rare conspicuous gallant act of exceptional courage & skill in saving life and property, or in preventing crime or arresting criminals, apprehending a prisoner or in preventing their escape, the risk incurred being estimated with due regard to the obligations and duties of the officer concerned as a member of Police, Fire, Correctional and Home Gaurd & Civil Defence Service.
2. Medal for Gallantry - The medal shall be awarded only to those who have done conspicuous gallant act of merit in saving life and property, or in preventing crime or arresting criminals, apprehending a prisoner or in preventing their escape, the risk incurred being estimated with due regard to the obligations and duties of the officer concerned as a member of Police, Fire, Correctional and Home Gaurd & Civil Defence Service.

A scroll signed by the President along with the medal.

Benefits

(A) Monetary Allowance :    

(i)  PMG - Rs. 6,000/- per month.

(ii) GM - Rs. 2,000/-   per month

Who can nominate ?

State Government/UT Administration/Administrative Controlling Department

Selection Process

MHA level Central Award Committee headed by Union Home Secretary considers and recomends the nominations.

Ceremony Details

Medal will be announced on the occassion of Republic Day and Independence Day.
