Gallantry Medals - PPMG/PMG 2023(Discontinued)

In consideration of gallantry and outstanding devotion to duty

Eligibility

President’s Police Medal for Gallantry (PPMG) - The Medal shall only be awarded to those who have either performed acts of exceptional courage in saving life and property, or in preventing crime or arresting criminals, the risks incurred being estimated with due regard to the obligations and duties of the officer concerned as members of police forces and Central Police/Security Organizations within the territory of India.

Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG) - The Medal shall only be awarded to those who have either performed conspicuous gallantry in saving life and property, or in preventing crime or arresting criminals, the risks incurred being estimated with due regard to the obligations and duties of the officer concerned as members of police forces and Central Police/Security Organizations within the territory of India.

Decoration

Medal and Certificate are given to awardee.

Benefits

(A) Monetary Allowance :    

(i)  PPMG- Rs. 6,000/- per month.

(ii) PMG- Rs. 2,000/-   per month.

(B) Concessional/ Complimentary Card Passes for journey in Air/ Railways.

Selection Process

MHA level Central Police Award Committee headed by Union Home Secretary, considers and recommends proposal for PPMG/PMG

Ceremony Details

Medal will be announced on the occassion of Republic Day and Independence Day i.e. 26th January & 15th August every year
